Analysis and forecast: how many extra riyals a household pays in each region, and where prices are heading over the next six months with the accuracy of our forecasts: Cost of living in your region.
What this means for your decision: if your sales or income in your region grew by less than prices there, their real value fell. The index measures the prices of a household basket, not the prices of your business alone.

Limits of the estimate: inflation here is the general consumer price index, and the basket of card payments differs from it; point-of-sale data exclude cash and online purchases; and a region = the sum of its cities published by the central bank only. Limits of the figure
- GASTAT publishes the index by administrative region (13 regions), not by city; the price sample is collected in cities inside each region.
- Base year 2023 = 100 for every figure here. The series runs from January 2013 (Safar – Rabi' al-Awwal 1434 AH) to August 2026 (Safar – Rabi' al-Awwal 1448 AH) (164 months).
- The latest month comes from GASTAT’s monthly bulletin and earlier months from its statistical database; where they overlap they differ by no more than 0.05 points.
- The index measures the household consumption basket, not wholesale prices or the prices of one sector.
Index numbers measure change, not level: a region with a higher index than another does not have higher prices; its prices have risen more since the base year. So we compare changes, not index values between regions.
