The consumer price index as published by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) for Saudi Arabia, its 13 administrative regions and 13 spending divisions, and the average prices of 169 goods and services and 5 building materials in riyals. Consumer price index, base year 2023 = 100, and its change in %. The largest annual rise in Saudi Arabia was in Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+3.9%); see every region by division(Arabic).

Index numbers measure change, not level: a region with a higher index than another does not have higher prices; its prices have risen more since the base year. So we compare changes, not index values between regions.

Average prices of 169 goods and services and 5 building materials
GASTAT publishes the average price in Saudi Arabia each month, per stated unit (and per stated brand where it names one). We compare the latest month, August 2026 (Safar – Rabi' al-Awwal 1448 AH), with the oldest month we hold (August 2025 (Safar – Rabi' al-Awwal 1447 AH) for most items): 120 items rose in average price and 48 fell. The searchable table of all 174 items, with their Arabic names, is on the Prices page(Arabic).
Limits: GASTAT publishes the national average, not by region, and an average is not the price at any particular shop. The five building materials come from a separate table that starts each January. We add every new month when it is published, so the comparison lengthens over time.
